The Institute
Operating with financial support  from CitiBank, New Directions Community-Based Research Institute was established as a non-profit corporation in New York State in 1999.  Classification as a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code was approved in January, 2000.

The Board of Directors, chaired by Michelle Di Benedetto of Citibank, includes members with a wide range of experience in  academic, business and non-profit fields.

Board members and Professional Services Associates include experts in real estate and development, community financing, local community leadership and human services, who can provide valuable guidance to university researchers.

The Academic Associates are from the fields of architecture, geography, philosophy, social welfare and sociology at five different universities.
